A few months ago Lego announced the new mini figure series: a different The Simpsons serie. Release date was announced as May, our hero WhiteFang had already reviewed the new series in eurobricks forum.
And I used his photos to prepare this guide.
The first series of The Simpsons was released in May last year, in fact, nobody was expecting a new one only a year after. But now I am excited even for a third serie in 2016, I wish there will be a new serie including Carl and Lenny. In series two the main characters appear with different outfits from the first one. Apart from them Smithers, Comic Book Guy, Willie, Edna Krabappel, Dr. Hibbert, Professor Frink, Hans Moleman, Martin Prince, Patty and Selma's figures are also available.
Here are the numbers of each figures presented in a full box:
• Homer Simpson (in his best suit and tie) - 5
• Marge Simpson (in a fancy dress) - 4
• Lisa and Snowball II - 4
• Maggie and Santa's Little Helper - 4
• Bart (Bartman) - 5
• Milhouse (Fallout Boy) - 4
• Comic Book Guy - 3
• Martin Prince - 3
• Professor Frink - 3
• Hans Moleman - 3
• Selma - 3
• Patty - 3
• Groundskeeper Willie - 5
• Edna Krabappel - 3
• Smithers - 4
• Dr. Hibbert – 4
Professor Frink is my favorite in Lego Simpsons Series 2. I really liked Lisa's pink dress, that will be great to combine with different figures. Martin Prince is my favorite character in the show, not to see him in the first series had disappointed me, but this time I'm glad that I could have him.
With five figures each, Bart, Homer and Willie have the highest possibilty to be found in a new opened box. At this point the unbearable charm to find a new opened box arise. With a nearly full box we know what we're looking for (assuming that someone didn’t come and take 5 of the Homers) is most probably in there and that gives us the courage and patiance to touch all the bags ☺.

Long story short here comes the real thing: how to feel what’s inside a bag in order to avoid buying duplicate ones.
Our main approach will be the same as the older series. Give the bag a proper shake in order to seperate the pieces. Than hold the bigger pieces in one corner, torso, legs, but especially the paper and the black base piece. By doing this other little pieces will be on the other side of the bag and that will make it easier to feel them.
However, the figures in the Lego Simpsons Series 2 are not that easy to recognize, because tiny accessories of the figures are not very distinctive. For example, six of the characters hold 2x2 square piece in their hands, in such cases you should also consider to look for another piece to distinguish. And these other pieces might require a bit more ability to feel.
If you are confident about yourself, you can go for the head pieces directly. They are a bit hard to recognize by touching but also unique for each figure and that will give you exact results. Since it is easier, I concentrated on the small parts instead of head pieces in this guide.
Date Night Homer
875 |
Homer had a 2x2 tile. You should be very familiar with square and rectangular pieces from the previous series, so finding and feeling the 2x2 piece won’t be hard. But that’s not it. Once you find the square piece, make sure there are no other tiny piece in the baggie. (Because Comic Book Guy has a 2x2 square and a Squishee drink, Mrs. Krabappel has also a 2x2 square and a coffee mug and Smithers also has two 2x2 square tile.)
So possibilities are down to three. You might be holding Homer, Dr. Hibbert or Selma in your hands. Selma has a big curly hair piece, you can distinguish her by the size of the head. Dr. Hibbert and Homer's head shapes are alike, but the doctor has a little hair on top of his head. If you slightly scratch with your fingernail you will feel the little tiny round bumps as Dr. Hibbert’s curly hair. If the head piece is smooth than that will be Homer the bald.
- Find the 2x2 tile.
- Make sure there are no other tiny parts.
- Find the head and eliminate Selma by her huge hair. Rub the head with your fingernail. If it is smooth on the top than it is Homer (He only has tiny hair at the top.) If you feel round bumps, it is Dr. Hibbert.
Date Night Marge
The easiest one in the serie ☺. It's impossible to miss her hair. If you find a long lumpy head, it is Marge in your hand.
Lisa and Snowball II
It is not very difficult to detect Lisa, but she can be easily misplaced with Maggie. Go for Snowball II, try to feel the tail. Snowball II has a long straight tail, Santa's Little Helper hasn’t got one, he has a dot on the back of his torso.
If you find the pet but could not be sure whether it is cat or dog, than you can go for Maggie’s one piece torso&legs. Lisa has her legs as a seperate piece, so that should also give you a clue.
Do not waste your time with head pieces because Maggie and Lisa's hair are very similar.
- Find the cat, it has a long straight tail.
- You may also go for the torso&legs. Maggie's body is one piece, Lisa has a torso and leg piece seperately.
Maggie and Santa’s Little Helper
You will also go for Santa's Little Helper for Maggie. There will be no tail, there is only a dot in his back (so that Maggie can sit on him).
And Maggie's body is just one piece. Lisa has her legs as a seperate piece but be careful because sometimes figures might come fully united, so be sure that the legs cannot be seperated.
- Find the dog, he shouldn’t have a tail.
- Keep in mind that Maggie has her torso as one piece. Legs are not seperate.
Bart (Bartman)
It is small but his slingshot is the most recognizable piece to idetify Bart. Go for it.
Milhouse (Fallout Boy)
Millhouse is not very easy to distinguish. He's got a Buzz Cola, you need to find it. But beware, you may be confused with Comic Book Guy's Squishee and Mrs. Krabappel’s coffee mug. If you find a 2x2 tile that might be Mrs. There Krabappel or Comic Book Guy. Millhouse has no other tiny piece other than cola can, there is only his cloak.
- Locate the Buzz Cola can.
- Make sure there isn’t any 2x2 square in the bag.
Comic Book Guy
Again we will go for a 2x2 piece. After 2x2 find the Squishee, a glass with a round top and a tiny straw. Do not mix it with Mrs. Krabappel, she has also a 2x2 square piece and a coffee mug.
- Find a 2x2 square.
- Locate the Squishee glass. The upper part is round and there's a tiny straw on top.
Martin Prince
Martin can also be easily noticed. He has a book as tall as himself, it is impossible to miss.
- Find the book, a big rectangular piece.
Professor Frink
Professor has a flask, it is tiny but unique. If you don’t want to deal with a piece that tiny, you can feel the head. Professor’s head is not like other figures’ heads, so it is not very difficult to identify. It is tall, his hair is different, he has glasses and you can also feel his mouth as he is a toothy.
- Find the flask.
Hans Moleman
Find the 1x2 rectangular piece. Little tiny, not very easy to find, but it will give you accurate result. Just be careful not to confused by Marge's purse, make sure that Marge's big hair piece is not there in the baggie.
- Find a rectangular piece of 1x2.
- Make sure that the long-haired head piece is not present in the bag.
Selma
Thanks to her hair it is not too difficult to distinguish Selma. Locate the large head piece with curly hair. After finding the head locate the 2x2 square piece. Hair and square piece means you are holding Selma, the hair and little bag means it is Patty.
- Find the head. Hair part should be large and bumpy.
- Find the 2x2 tile.
Patty
Patty is also easy to find as Selma. Find big curly haired head. It should be large and bumpy piece. Find the little bag after the head. It’s a little bit odd shaped. After locating the head if it is not a square tile than it should be Patty’s bag.
- Find the head. Hair part should be large and bumpy.
- Find the bag. (Or be sure that it is not a 2x2 tile.)
Groundskeeper Willie
We will focus on catching the plunger Willie holds. Willie's head is also different from other figures, you can feel his enormous eyebrows and shape of his beard, but that may require a little extra attention and ability.
In White Fang’s photos Willie’s plunger seems to be one piece. But it doesn’t matter anyway, even if red part is a separate piece, you can still distinguish Willie by feeling the plunger’s body, because this will be the only bar in the series.
- Find the plunger. You can feel it as a small bar.
Edna Krabappel
Again go for the 2x2 square. Once you find the 2x2 tile, try to feel the coffee mug. Make sure that it is not Comic Book Guy you are holding. The mug Edna is holding has a handle on the side and it has a flat top. Comic Book Guy’s Squishee glass is round and has a tiny straw. You can also distinguish Mrs. Krabappel by the shape of her hair and her skirt.
- Find a 2x2 square.
- Find the coffee mug. A flat upper part, a handle aside.
Waylon Smithers
There are two 2x2 square tiles with Smithers. But whether these two pieces are sticked together or separate in the package, I cannot tell by looking at the White Fang’s pictures :). Just be prepared for either of these possibilities. If they are sticked you should feel them as it will be slightly thicker than a normal square piece. If they are separate than you should feel two square tiles.
- Find two 2x2 piece or one thick 2x2 tile.
Dr. Hibbert
Again, we need to find the 2x2 piece. Once you find the square tile make sure there are no other tiny pieces. (By this we are eliminating Comic Book Guy, Mrs. Krabappel and Smithers.)
Three possibilities remains: you may be holding Homer in your hands, Selma or Dr. Hibbert. Eliminate Selma by feeling her large hair piece. Dr. Hibbert and Homer's head shapes are alike, but the doctor has a little curly hair on top of his head.
Hibbert.
